I have developed a logo that is both simplistic and sophisticated. The circular design allows the logo to fit easily into all social media profile pictures. The logo will also be placed as a small watermark on all images taken by myself on the website and social media platforms to deter others from using my images and not crediting Genre Style.
Initially I had five logo designs I was considering. The first was styled after a western sheriff’s badge. I chose my final design due to the power and authority I believe the design portrayed. The guitar shaped logo uses the name as the guitar neck. I felt that this reflected the country music genre too heavily and was not ‘fashion’ enough. Also with the guitar upright it was more difficult to read the text. The next two logos designed consisted of just text that I felt were too simplistic and did not intrigue the reader, even with the addition of the extra lines.
The font used for the text I felt to be the most important decision, as I had a specific idea of how to join up to the semi-circle around the image, I decided on Zapfino. The bordering text, Trajan Pro, was chosen quite easily, as I wanted each letter to be uppercase to be able to be easily legible.
Next, I experimented with having a guitar or a dot in-between the ‘music’ and ‘fashion’. I felt that the guitar gave a slight indication that Genre Style was country music themed due to the guitar being an acoustic instrument. The dot made it more appropriate for any genre music, which in the future, if I were to diversify the brand could make it easier. I decided in the end that I preferred the logo without the addition of a symbol.
